Privacy policy
Last updated
This policy explains what SIAS collects through this website, what we do with it, and how to ask us to delete it. It covers siasedu.com only.
Who we are
SIAS (Strategic Inspiration for Achieving Success) is a global education consultancy advising students on studying abroad. Our office for Sri Lankan students is in Colombo. You can reach us at info@siasedu.com or on the number listed on our contact page.
What we collect
We collect two things: what you type into a form, and anonymous analytics about how the site is used.
The consultation form asks for your full name, email address, contact number, the destination you are interested in, and an optional message about your goals. Name, email and contact number are required because we cannot reply without them. The rest is optional.
The partner enquiry form asks for your full name, contact number and email address. Nothing else.
Both forms also record the time of submission and the page you submitted from, which is how we tell a consultation request apart from a partner enquiry.
We do not ask for, and you should not send us, your passport number, financial account details, national identity number, or any document scan through this website. If we need those to progress an application, we will ask for them another way and tell you why.
Where your information goes
When you submit a form, the information travels from your browser to this website's server, and from there to a Google Sheet held in the SIAS Google Workspace account and to our inbox at info@siasedu.com. It is not sent anywhere else, and it is not sold, rented or shared with third parties for their own marketing.
If you ask us to progress an application, we will share the information you have given us with the universities or institutions on your shortlist. We will tell you which ones before we do it.
Why we are allowed to hold it
We hold what you send us because you asked us to answer a question or advise on an application, and we cannot do that without it. If you later tell us to stop, we stop.
How long we keep it
We keep consultation and partner enquiries for three years from your last contact with us, and then delete them. Three years is chosen because a student who enquires while sitting Advanced Levels may realistically apply two years later, and we would rather not ask you to repeat yourself.
If you become a client, records relating to your application are kept for as long as we are working together and for three years afterwards.
Asking us to delete it
Email info@siasedu.com and ask. We will delete what we hold about you and confirm when it is done. You do not have to give a reason.
You can also ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct something that is wrong, or ask for a copy. The same address handles all of it.
Cookies and analytics
This site uses Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages are read. That tells us which guides are useful and which are not. It sets cookies in your browser and records an anonymised version of your IP address. It does not tell us who you are.
We use Cloudflare Turnstile on both forms to tell people apart from bots. It may set a token in your browser for that purpose. It is not an advertising product and does not track you across other sites.
We do not run advertising cookies, retargeting pixels, or embedded social media trackers. There is no Google Map embedded on the contact page, which is one of the reasons the page loads quickly and asks nothing of you.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site works without them, apart from the forms, which need Turnstile to run.
Links to other sites
Our guides link to primary sources such as gov.uk, Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada, and Study in Germany, because a visa fact is worth reading from the authority that sets it. Those sites have their own privacy policies and we are not responsible for them.
Changes to this policy
If we change what we collect or where it goes, we will update this page and change the date below. The date at the bottom of this page is the date of the current version.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, email info@siasedu.com first and we will try to resolve it. If we cannot, you may be able to complain to a data protection authority in your country.
